Poetry and Miscellany

  • Poem

    Men say they know many things;
    But lo! they have taken wings—
    The arts and sciences,
    And a thousand appliances;
    The wind that blows
    Is all that any body knows.

Today’s Copout Is…

Posted by Matthew on March 23, 2007

Poetry Thursday. Yesterday, I posted, again, a small trifle of a poem. I also chose a fellow participant’s entry as today’s poem. Besides, if I’m advocating more poetry reading, I don’t see why I can’t advocate more poetry writing as well. And exercises such as those found at Poetry Thursday are as good a place to start writing as any.

Poem: Seated Woman with Fish Hat, by Catherine
Thoreau: March 23, 1853
