Poetry and Miscellany

  • Poem

    Men say they know many things;
    But lo! they have taken wings—
    The arts and sciences,
    And a thousand appliances;
    The wind that blows
    Is all that any body knows.

    ~ Henry David Thoreau

I’ve Gone Batty

Posted by Matthew on April 4, 2007

UPDATE: I can’t seem to update my sidebar, so it looks like we’re stuck with the poem and Thoreau from April 3rd until I figure out what’s going on.

(With apologies for the title of this post)

That’s right, another Roethke for today’s poem. Good stuff, too.

Everyone keeping up with NaPoWriMo? I thought not. I’m still going strong, but it’s only the 4th, and I haven’t actually written a poem yet today…

Poem: The Bat, by Theodore Roethke
Thoreau: April 4, 1853
