Poetry and Miscellany

    Men say they know many things;
    But lo! they have taken wings—
    The arts and sciences,
    And a thousand appliances;
    The wind that blows
    Is all that any body knows.

Linh Dinh: “Not a Science Fiction Writer… Yet”

Posted by Matthew on April 27, 2007

Taking a break from the precedent of using a poem from Poetry 180 each day, I’m highlighting a poem that just bowled me over: “Beloved Alone”, by Linh Dinh. I won’t attempt to one-up Silliman’s analysis of Dinh’s poetry–I’m tired, and I just don’t know as much as he does–but what I’m reading is mighty good; his poetry is a fascinating blend of the futuristic and the affecting. I like what Silliman has to say, so go read it.
